Flash Flood Watch Through this Evening

Per consult with the National Weather Service:

Synopsis (Current forecast models):

• A line of thunderstorms is moving into the New Jersey (NJ) area and will move out of the area around 1600 hours. Thunderstorms may be severe at times and will be accompanied by high winds and heavy rains.

Timing: The heaviest rain and highest risk of severe weather will be between noon and 1600 hours

Precipitation: Average rainfall totals will be between ¾ inch and 1 ½ inches. There is the possibility of localized totals reaching 2-3 inches in the event of severe thunderstorms.

Winds: Sustained winds 20-30 mph with gusts of 30-40 mph. Wind gusts could reach 50-65 mph with severe thunderstorms. There is a small possibility of microbursts with this system; microbursts could bring winds of 65 to 75 mph.

Urban Flooding: Urban Flooding is possible in low lying and poorly drained areas.
